Role Overview
A high-growth fintech platform in Dubai is seeking a deeply technical and execution-focused Senior Fintech Technology Officer – Backend Engineering, API Ecosystems & Cloud Infrastructure to architect and operate the core systems that power modern digital financial services.
This role is designed for a hands-on technologist who thrives at the intersection of Python-based data processing, Java-driven backend services, SQL-powered financial data management, and cloud-native infrastructure across AWS and Google Cloud. You will be responsible for building and scaling resilient, secure, and high-performance systems that support real-time payments, digital wallets, and embedded finance solutions.
You will operate in an environment where system uptime, latency, and data integrity are non-negotiable—engineering platforms that handle high transaction volumes while maintaining strict compliance and security standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Python for fintech applications
- Build and manage scalable RESTful and event-driven APIs for payments, account management, and financial services
- Develop and optimize SQL-based data models for transaction processing, reporting, and analytics
- Architect and manage cloud infrastructure across AWS and Google Cloud, ensuring scalability and resilience
- Implement microservices architecture and containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes
- Integrate with third-party systems including banks, payment gateways, and identity providers
- Ensure system security through encryption, authentication frameworks, and secure coding practices
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize for high availability and low latency
- Automate deployment pipelines and infrastructure provisioning using CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code tools
- Collaborate with product, data, and compliance teams to deliver robust financial solutions
- Ensure adherence to UAE financial regulations and data protection standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in backend development or fintech engineering
- Strong proficiency in Python, Java, and SQL
- Experience building and managing APIs and microservices architectures
- Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud platforms
- Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and performance optimization
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with event streaming platforms (Kafka or similar)
- Knowledge of DevOps and automation tools
- Familiarity with payment systems and financial transaction processing
- Exposure to security frameworks (OAuth2, JWT, encryption protocols)
