Executive Role Summary

A rapidly expanding financial technology ecosystem in Riyadh is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Fintech Backend Software Engineer (Java) to architect, develop, and optimize mission-critical financial systems powering digital payments, transaction processing, API banking infrastructure, and large-scale financial services platforms.

This is a high-impact engineering role designed for professionals who understand that fintech development extends far beyond writing code—it demands precision, security, resilience, regulatory awareness, and enterprise-grade architecture capable of handling millions of high-value transactions without compromise.

The successful candidate will work at the intersection of engineering excellence, financial innovation, and operational stability, building scalable backend services that support payment gateways, card processing systems, wallet infrastructure, settlement engines, reconciliation platforms, lending systems, and open banking integrations.

You will collaborate with architects, DevOps teams, cybersecurity specialists, product leaders, compliance stakeholders, and infrastructure teams to create highly available systems where downtime is unacceptable and precision is mandatory.

Core Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java-based backend services for fintech products and payment ecosystems
• Build resilient microservices architecture supporting digital wallets, payment switching, merchant acquiring, transaction routing, and settlement systems
• Develop secure APIs for banking integrations, third-party payment processors, open banking services, and financial data exchange
• Optimize transaction processing systems for low latency, high throughput, and fault tolerance
• Implement fraud detection integrations, audit logging mechanisms, and financial compliance controls across backend systems
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure CI/CD automation, container orchestration, and infrastructure scalability
• Improve database performance for high-volume transactional systems across SQL and distributed data environments
• Strengthen security architecture involving encryption, tokenization, authentication, and secure financial data handling
• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and enforce engineering best practices across backend teams
• Support production troubleshooting, incident response, and system reliability initiatives for critical financial infrastructure
• Work closely with product and compliance teams to ensure platform alignment with regulatory expectations and customer requirements
• Contribute to long-term platform modernization and digital banking transformation initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline
• 5+ years of professional backend development experience with strong specialization in Java
• Deep expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems architecture
• Strong knowledge of high-volume transactional databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, or similar platforms
• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or event-driven architecture within financial systems
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native deployment models
• Strong understanding of payment systems, transaction workflows, and fintech architecture
• Knowledge of secure coding standards, financial compliance requirements, and cybersecurity fundamentals
• Experience in banking, fintech, payment gateways, or financial services environments is highly preferred
• Strong debugging, performance optimization, and problem-solving capabilities
