Role Overview
A technically intensive role focused on building and maintaining large-scale financial data platforms that power analytics, reporting, and real-time decision-making across fintech systems.
The Senior Financial Data Platform Engineer will be responsible for designing robust data architectures, ensuring data integrity, and enabling high-performance data processing pipelines.
System Design Responsibilities
1. Data Architecture Development
- Design scalable data platforms supporting batch and real-time processing
- Implement data lakes, warehouses, and streaming architectures
- Ensure high availability and fault tolerance
2. Data Pipeline Engineering
- Build ETL/ELT pipelines for ingesting financial data from multiple sources
- Optimize pipelines for performance, latency, and reliability
- Ensure data consistency across systems
3. Real-Time Data Processing
- Develop streaming solutions using technologies such as Kafka or Flink
- Enable real-time analytics for fraud detection, transaction monitoring, and reporting
4. Data Governance & Security
- Implement data quality frameworks and validation processes
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations
- Manage access controls and encryption standards
Technical Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Python, Scala, or Java
- Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka)
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Familiarity with data warehousing solutions (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift)
- Understanding of financial data structures and transaction systems
Professional Experience
- 6–10+ years in data engineering or fintech infrastructure roles
- Proven experience building production-grade data platforms
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to system scalability
