Role Overview
A highly progressive fintech platform in Dubai is seeking a deeply technical Senior Blockchain Protocol Engineer – Digital Payments & Settlement Infrastructure to design and build next-generation distributed financial systems powering real-time payments, tokenized settlement, and programmable financial services.
This role is positioned at the core of a transformative initiative to re-engineer how value moves across financial ecosystems. The successful candidate will work on advanced blockchain protocols that enable secure, transparent, and highly scalable transaction processing across digital wallets, cross-border payments, merchant ecosystems, and institutional treasury operations.
You will be responsible for building blockchain-native infrastructure that integrates seamlessly with traditional financial systems while enabling new capabilities such as atomic settlement, smart contract-driven financial logic, and multi-asset transaction orchestration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop blockchain protocols supporting high-throughput financial transactions and real-time settlement systems
- Build and optimize smart contracts governing payment execution, escrow services, token issuance, and settlement finality
- Architect distributed ledger systems that integrate with banking infrastructure, payment gateways, and treasury platforms
- Develop secure APIs and middleware for interaction between blockchain networks and fintech applications
- Ensure system scalability, security, and performance across high-volume transaction environments
- Implement cryptographic mechanisms for transaction validation, digital signatures, and data integrity
- Collaborate with product, risk, and compliance teams to ensure blockchain systems meet regulatory and operational requirements
- Conduct code reviews, protocol audits, and security assessments to ensure robustness of blockchain implementations
- Optimize gas usage, transaction costs, and network efficiency for scalable deployment
- Participate in research and development of emerging blockchain technologies including Layer 2 scaling solutions and interoperability frameworks
- Support integration with digital wallets, payment networks, and cross-border settlement platforms
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cryptography, or related field
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2–3 years in blockchain development
- Strong proficiency in Solidity, Rust, Go, or similar blockchain development languages
- Experience with Ethereum, Hyperledger, or other enterprise blockchain platforms
- Deep understanding of consensus mechanisms, cryptographic principles, and distributed systems
- Familiarity with smart contract security best practices and auditing tools
- Experience with APIs, microservices architecture, and cloud deployment
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Ability to work within regulated fintech environments
- GCC fintech exposure is a plus
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Layer 2 solutions, rollups, and scalability frameworks
- Knowledge of token standards (ERC-20, ERC-721, etc.)
- Exposure to cross-chain interoperability protocols
- Familiarity with digital asset custody and wallet infrastructure
