A sophisticated fintech institution in Doha is hiring a highly experienced Principal Software Engineer – Financial Data Platforms, Analytics & Risk Systems to lead the development of advanced data-driven systems powering financial analytics, risk intelligence, and regulatory reporting.
This role is focused on building large-scale data platforms capable of processing and analyzing massive volumes of financial transactions in real time, enabling smarter decision-making, enhanced risk management, and improved regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate will play a key role in designing systems that transform raw financial data into actionable insights—supporting fraud detection, credit risk analysis, customer behavior modeling, and executive reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable data platforms for real-time financial data processing and analytics
- Build data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and analysis of transaction data
- Develop systems for risk monitoring, fraud detection, and compliance reporting
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to implement predictive models and analytics solutions
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across financial systems
- Optimize system performance for large-scale data processing workloads
- Integrate data platforms with payment systems, customer applications, and external data sources
- Implement governance frameworks for data management and regulatory compliance
- Lead technical architecture decisions and mentor engineering teams
- Support deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of data systems
- Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance data platform capabilities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field
- 7+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on data platforms
- Strong proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, or similar languages
- Experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and storage solutions
- Strong understanding of database systems and data modeling
- Knowledge of financial systems, risk management, or compliance frameworks preferred
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong leadership and communication capabilities
