Strategic Role Overview
A sophisticated fintech institution in Doha is recruiting a highly experienced Principal Fintech Technology Officer – Platform Engineering, Distributed Systems & Cloud-Native Architecture to lead the development of next-generation financial technology platforms.
This role is designed for a top-tier engineer who can architect complex distributed systems using Python, Java, SQL, API-driven architectures, and cloud platforms such as AWS and Google Cloud, ensuring scalability, resilience, and performance across mission-critical financial applications.
You will play a central role in shaping the institution’s technical foundation—building platforms that support payments, digital banking, analytics, and financial services at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and develop distributed systems and microservices for fintech platforms
- Build high-performance backend services using Python and Java
- Design and optimize SQL databases and data storage solutions
- Develop and manage API ecosystems for seamless system integration
- Lead cloud architecture and deployment strategies across AWS and Google Cloud
- Ensure system scalability, reliability, and security
- Implement DevOps practices including CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and monitoring
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end financial solutions
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to enhance platform capabilities
- Ensure compliance with Qatar financial regulations and security standards
- Mentor engineering teams and contribute to technical leadership
- Drive long-term platform strategy and innovation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering or platform engineering
- Strong expertise in Python, Java, SQL, APIs, and cloud platforms (AWS/Google Cloud)
- Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture
- Strong understanding of cloud-native development and DevOps practices
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Leadership and strategic thinking capabilities

- Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
- Knowledge of financial systems and transaction processing
- Exposure to real-time data streaming and event-driven architectures
