Strategic Engineering Opportunity

A major fintech transformation initiative in Qatar is seeking a Lead Fintech Software Engineer with strong expertise across both Java and Python ecosystems to drive architecture, development leadership, and engineering strategy across next-generation digital financial services.

This senior role is built for a professional who can bridge engineering execution with architectural leadership—someone capable of designing scalable transaction systems while leading engineering teams responsible for payments, merchant acquiring, wallet infrastructure, reconciliation engines, compliance platforms, and embedded finance services.

You will serve as a technical decision-maker, responsible for ensuring system reliability, platform security, development velocity, and architectural sustainability across high-growth fintech operations.

Strategic Responsibilities

• Lead engineering design and architecture for mission-critical fintech systems across Java and Python platforms
• Build scalable backend services for payments, wallets, merchant acquiring, transaction routing, and financial reporting
• Define platform standards for security, observability, API governance, and system resilience
• Oversee software delivery across multiple engineering squads working on financial products and infrastructure
• Improve platform scalability through microservices modernization and distributed systems optimization
• Strengthen reconciliation systems, settlement engines, and operational reporting architecture
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, compliance, and executive stakeholders on enterprise engineering decisions
• Drive engineering excellence through mentorship, code governance, architecture reviews, and talent development
• Lead incident management and production reliability initiatives across financial platforms
• Support regulatory technology integrations and compliance-driven development requirements
• Evaluate emerging technologies that improve financial platform performance and operational efficiency
• Contribute to strategic fintech innovation initiatives involving AI automation, intelligent fraud monitoring, and digital banking transformation

Executive Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong leadership exposure
• Advanced expertise in Java, Python, backend architecture, and distributed systems design
• Strong command of Spring Boot, FastAPI/Django, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis, and containerized environments
• Experience with Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD automation, and production-grade deployment systems
• Deep understanding of payment systems, transaction lifecycles, and fintech operational architecture
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams in high-availability financial environments
• Strong architectural decision-making and stakeholder management capabilities
• Experience in enterprise fintech, banking technology, or payment infrastructure is strongly preferred
