This role exists to govern that ecosystem—ensuring that APIs are not just technical endpoints, but secure, scalable, and strategically aligned financial infrastructure components.
The Fintech API Ecosystem Governance Lead will define the rules, standards, and operational frameworks that shape how financial APIs are designed, consumed, secured, and monetized across digital ecosystems.
Strategic Purpose
- Establish a unified governance model for fintech API ecosystems
- Ensure interoperability across financial service providers
- Maintain security, compliance, and performance standards
- Enable innovation through controlled API expansion
Core Responsibilities
- Define and enforce API governance frameworks across fintech systems
- Standardize API design principles including versioning, authentication, and lifecycle management
- Oversee API security policies, rate limiting, and data access controls
- Evaluate new API integrations for technical and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure scalable API architecture
- Monitor API usage metrics, adoption rates, and performance indicators
Technical & Domain Expertise
- Strong understanding of API lifecycle management and microservices architecture
- Experience with API gateways, developer platforms, and integration systems
- Knowledge of fintech security standards and data protection frameworks
- Familiarity with RESTful and event-driven architectures
Professional Profile
- 7–12 years in fintech infrastructure, API management, or systems architecture
- Experience in large-scale digital platform environments
- Strong governance, analytical, and technical oversight skills
