Executive Role Overview
A high-growth financial technology institution in Dubai is seeking a visionary Executive Director of Digital Finance Architecture & Strategic Payments Innovation to lead the next phase of enterprise fintech transformation across digital banking infrastructure, payment ecosystems, merchant finance platforms, and institutional financial innovation.
This role is designed for a senior fintech leader capable of translating strategic financial ambition into resilient, scalable, and future-ready technology ecosystems. The selected executive will oversee architecture strategy across digital payments, embedded finance, treasury modernization, merchant acquiring, virtual accounts, API banking, and customer financial platforms that serve both regional and international markets.
You will operate at the intersection of technology leadership, regulatory governance, customer experience, and institutional growth—ensuring that innovation is not only fast, but secure, compliant, and commercially sustainable.
This is a flagship leadership position requiring deep financial systems expertise, exceptional executive presence, and the ability to shape long-term fintech strategy across one of the Gulf region’s most dynamic digital finance landscapes.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise architecture strategy across payments, digital banking platforms, customer financial services, and merchant technology ecosystems
- Design and modernize financial infrastructure supporting wallets, remittances, lending platforms, settlement engines, and treasury workflows
- Oversee transformation programs involving cloud-native migration, API-first banking, microservices architecture, and legacy platform replacement
- Drive innovation across embedded finance models, merchant payment experiences, and institutional liquidity systems
- Establish governance frameworks across DevSecOps, platform resilience, cybersecurity alignment, and enterprise observability
- Collaborate with compliance leadership to ensure adherence to UAE regulatory requirements, PCI DSS, AML frameworks, and financial governance obligations
- Build scalable systems capable of supporting high-volume transaction processing, multi-country operations, and institutional-grade uptime standards
- Lead integration frameworks across banks, payment schemes, acquiring partners, fraud prevention systems, and international settlement channels
- Strengthen executive reporting visibility across platform performance, operational intelligence, and transformation outcomes
- Mentor senior engineering leaders and define long-term architecture standards for sustainable fintech expansion
- Evaluate frontier innovations including digital asset interoperability, AI-led payments intelligence, and programmable finance infrastructure
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Financial Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of senior experience in fintech leadership, banking technology architecture, or enterprise payments infrastructure
- Strong expertise in digital payments, acquiring systems, treasury platforms, and financial transaction ecosystems
- Deep knowledge of AWS, Azure, GCP, hybrid infrastructure, and enterprise cloud transformation
- Strong understanding of API management, event-driven systems, distributed architecture, and financial-grade resilience frameworks
- Experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, Terraform, PostgreSQL, Redis, and infrastructure automation environments
- Familiarity with PCI DSS, ISO frameworks, financial cybersecurity controls, and regulated technology operations
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management capabilities
- GCC financial services exposure highly preferred

- Experience with Open Banking ecosystems and Banking-as-a-Service platforms
- Exposure to tokenized settlement models and programmable payment infrastructure
- Knowledge of treasury modernization and institutional liquidity optimization
- Familiarity with sovereign fintech transformation initiatives across the Gulf region
