The Board seeks to appoint a Group Chief Payments & Digital Money Officer to lead the systemic evolution of payment ecosystems, digital money frameworks, and next-generation financial rails. This role is positioned at the highest strategic tier, with direct oversight of payment infrastructure, digital currency strategy, and financial interoperability initiatives.
The appointee will operate as a macro-level architect, influencing both institutional execution and national-level financial innovation trajectories.
Strategic Pillars of Accountability
I. Payment System Sovereignty & Infrastructure Control
- Design and implement sovereign-grade payment architectures ensuring domestic processing independence and cross-border interoperability
- Lead the transition toward real-time, always-on payment systems with enriched data layers
- Oversee integration with central bank settlement mechanisms and liquidity frameworks
II. Digital Money & Programmable Finance Strategy
- Develop enterprise-wide strategies for:
- Tokenized deposits
- Stable-value digital instruments
- Programmable payment layers
- Evaluate and integrate emerging digital currency ecosystems and settlement innovations
III. Interoperability & Cross-Border Optimization
- Architect seamless interoperability between:
- Card schemes
- Account-to-account (A2A) payment rails
- Digital wallets and alternative payment methods
- Optimize cross-border payment flows through FX efficiency, routing intelligence, and settlement acceleration
IV. Regulatory & Policy Engagement
- Act as principal liaison with Saudi financial regulators and regional policy bodies
- Influence regulatory frameworks through participation in policy consultations and fintech councils
- Ensure full compliance with AML, data governance, and financial stability requirements
Leadership & Governance Scope
- Direct oversight of multi-disciplinary teams spanning engineering, treasury, compliance, and product
- Accountability for multi-billion-dollar transaction ecosystems
- Stewardship of long-term financial infrastructure investments
Candidate Calibration
- 18+ years in payments, banking infrastructure, or fintech leadership
- Proven experience managing large-scale payment networks or digital financial ecosystems
- Deep understanding of global payment standards and GCC regulatory environments
