Executive Role Overview
A forward-looking financial technology institution in Dubai is seeking a highly strategic Executive Director – Next-Generation Payments & Digital Finance Ecosystems to architect and lead one of the most ambitious fintech expansion programs in the region.
This role is designed for an elite operator who understands that modern finance is no longer product-driven—it is ecosystem-driven. Payments, wallets, lending, merchant services, cross-border flows, and embedded finance must operate as a unified, intelligent, and scalable financial architecture.
You will lead the design and execution of a multi-layered fintech ecosystem that supports digital wallets, real-time payments, merchant acquiring platforms, API-driven banking services, and intelligent financial orchestration across both retail and institutional clients.
The mandate is not incremental improvement—it is structural transformation. This role requires a leader who can combine architectural depth, regulatory fluency, and commercial foresight to build systems that will define the next decade of financial services in the Gulf and beyond.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Architect and scale integrated fintech ecosystems spanning payments, merchant platforms, treasury systems, and customer financial services
- Lead enterprise transformation initiatives involving API-first banking, microservices infrastructure, and distributed financial systems
- Design intelligent payment orchestration frameworks capable of optimizing routing, settlement timing, cost efficiency, and transaction success rates
- Oversee development of digital wallets, virtual accounts, embedded finance solutions, and programmable payment layers
- Drive cross-border payment innovation, remittance corridors, and multi-currency financial services infrastructure
- Establish governance frameworks across cybersecurity, transaction integrity, compliance, and operational resilience
- Collaborate with regulators to align ecosystem development with UAE financial supervision frameworks and global compliance standards
- Lead integrations with acquiring institutions, card schemes, banking partners, fraud detection systems, and financial data providers
- Define performance KPIs across transaction throughput, latency, settlement efficiency, and system availability
- Mentor senior leadership across engineering, product, and operations to ensure strategic alignment and execution discipline
- Evaluate emerging financial technologies including AI-driven payment intelligence, tokenized settlement layers, and programmable finance ecosystems
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Financial Technology, Engineering, or related discipline
- 10+ years of experience in fintech leadership, digital banking, payments infrastructure, or financial platform engineering
- Deep expertise in payment systems, merchant acquiring, treasury platforms, and transaction processing environments
- Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), distributed systems, and API architecture
- Experience with Kubernetes, event-driven systems, microservices architecture, and financial-grade infrastructure resilience
- Strong understanding of PCI DSS, AML frameworks, transaction security, and regulatory governance
- Exceptional leadership, stakeholder engagement, and strategic execution capabilities
- GCC financial services experience strongly preferred
