Position Overview
The Senior Fintech Payment Gateway Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure and scalable payment gateway systems that support digital transactions across multiple channels. The role requires deep technical expertise, an understanding of financial transaction flows, and the ability to ensure system reliability in a high-volume fintech environment.
Key Responsibilities
System Development & Engineering
- Design and implement payment gateway architectures that support card payments, bank transfers, and alternative payment methods.
- Develop backend services that handle transaction routing, authorization, and processing.
- Ensure system scalability to accommodate increasing transaction volumes.
Integration & API Management
- Build and manage APIs for seamless integration with third-party payment providers and financial institutions.
- Maintain secure communication protocols between systems.
- Support integration with mobile applications and web-based payment platforms.
Security & Compliance
- Implement encryption standards and secure authentication mechanisms.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and payment security standards relevant to Kuwait.
- Conduct security reviews and address vulnerabilities proactively.
Performance Optimization
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot latency or failure issues.
- Optimize transaction processing speed and reliability.
- Maintain high system uptime and availability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 5–9 years of experience in fintech engineering or payment systems development.
- Strong proficiency in backend programming languages (Java, Python, or similar).
- Experience with API development, microservices, and distributed systems.
Additional Skills
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and containerization tools.
- Familiarity with payment processing standards and transaction lifecycle.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving capabilities.
