Executive Engineering Opportunity
A major fintech transformation program in Bahrain is hiring a Lead Fintech Software Developer with deep expertise across both Java and Python ecosystems to drive platform architecture, engineering leadership, and software delivery across next-generation financial services infrastructure.
This role is built for a senior engineering professional who can bridge technical architecture with strategic execution—someone capable of leading both system design and engineering teams responsible for payments, merchant acquiring, wallet operations, settlement engines, compliance systems, fraud monitoring platforms, and embedded finance solutions.
You will serve as a technical authority responsible for ensuring platform reliability, security, scalability, and engineering excellence across complex fintech operations.
This position demands both strong hands-on capability and executive-level technical leadership.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and engineering design of mission-critical fintech systems across Java and Python environments
- Build and optimize backend platforms for payments, digital wallets, transaction routing, merchant acquiring, and reconciliation systems
- Define enterprise engineering standards for API governance, platform observability, security, and operational resilience
- Oversee software delivery across multiple engineering squads supporting financial products and core infrastructure
- Improve platform scalability through microservices modernization and distributed systems optimization
- Strengthen settlement architecture, treasury workflows, and financial reporting systems
- Collaborate with compliance, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and executive stakeholders on high-priority platform decisions
- Drive engineering excellence through mentorship, code governance, technical hiring, and architecture review processes
- Lead incident management, platform recovery strategies, and production reliability improvements
- Support regulatory technology implementation and compliance-driven software development requirements
- Evaluate emerging technologies to improve fraud detection, payment automation, and financial intelligence capabilities
- Contribute to long-term digital transformation strategy across enterprise fintech operations
Executive Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with proven leadership exposure
- Advanced expertise in Java, Python, distributed systems architecture, and backend engineering
- Strong command of Spring Boot, FastAPI, Django, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis, and containerized environments
- Experience with Kubernetes, cloud platforms, CI/CD automation, and enterprise deployment models
- Deep understanding of payment ecosystems, transaction lifecycles, and financial operations architecture
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams within high-availability fintech or banking environments
- Strong decision-making, stakeholder management, and architecture leadership capability
- Prior experience in enterprise fintech, digital banking, or payment infrastructure is strongly preferred
