Role Overview
The Fraud Detection & Transaction Monitoring Manager is responsible for safeguarding fintech platforms by designing and overseeing workflows that identify, analyze, and mitigate fraudulent activities. This role ensures that financial transactions are continuously monitored, risks are minimized, and fraud prevention mechanisms are optimized.
Operational Workflow Ownership
Transaction Surveillance
- Monitor real-time transaction streams across digital payment systems.
- Identify unusual patterns, anomalies, or suspicious behaviors.
- Apply predefined fraud detection rules and thresholds.
Alert Generation & Review
- Manage automated alerts triggered by suspicious transactions.
- Prioritize alerts based on risk levels and transaction value.
- Conduct preliminary investigations to validate alerts.
Investigation & Escalation
- Perform detailed analysis of flagged transactions.
- Escalate confirmed fraud cases to relevant internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate response actions such as account restrictions or transaction reversals.
Continuous Improvement
- Refine fraud detection rules and monitoring parameters.
- Reduce false positives while maintaining detection accuracy.
- Collaborate with data and engineering teams to enhance detection systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in fraud detection, AML, or fintech risk operations.
- Strong understanding of transaction monitoring systems.
