Architecture Mandate
We are looking for a technically rigorous Open Banking & API Ecosystems Architect to design the infrastructure connecting banks, fintech platforms, payment providers, merchants, and digital financial applications.
The position requires more than conventional enterprise architecture: the successful candidate must understand how APIs, identity, data exchange, authentication, transaction orchestration, security, and financial services interact within a modern financial ecosystem.
Core Responsibilities

Design scalable API architectures for financial-data and payment services.

Develop standards for API lifecycle management, versioning, authentication, monitoring, and availability.

Architect secure connections between banking systems and third-party fintech applications.

Design integration frameworks for account information, payment initiation, transaction data, and financial services.

Establish API governance and technical standards across multiple development teams.

Evaluate REST, event-driven, asynchronous, and other integration patterns.

Work with cybersecurity teams to strengthen authentication, authorisation, encryption, and access controls.

Design high-availability architectures capable of supporting critical financial transactions.

Lead technical architecture reviews for fintech products and strategic integrations.

Develop reference architectures and reusable integration components.

Analyse performance, latency, reliability, and scalability requirements.

Collaborate with product, engineering, risk, compliance, and commercial teams.

Assess emerging financial-technology standards and determine their architectural implications.
Technical Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

8+ years of enterprise, integration, API, banking, or fintech architecture experience.

Strong understanding of API gateways, microservices, cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture.

Experience integrating financial institutions or payment platforms is highly desirable.

Strong understanding of security architecture and identity-management principles.

Excellent technical documentation and stakeholder-management skills.

Indicative Compensation
BHD 4,000–6,000 monthly + benefits, depending on architectural expertise and scope.
