Senior Digital Payments Infrastructure Architect

Role Overview
At the intersection of national digital transformation and financial innovation, this role is engineered for a senior technologist capable of architecting large-scale, interoperable payment ecosystems. You will operate within a rapidly evolving regulatory and economic landscape where real-time payments, open banking APIs, and cross-border settlement frameworks are becoming foundational pillars of the financial system.
This position demands not just engineering competence, but systems-level thinking, enabling seamless orchestration between banks, fintech platforms, telecom operators, and regulatory nodes.
Core Responsibilities
- Design and implement next-generation payment rails, including instant payment systems (IPS), QR-based transactions, and tokenized payment solutions.
- Architect API-first ecosystems aligned with open banking standards (RESTful APIs, OAuth2.0, OpenID Connect).
- Lead infrastructure design for high-availability, low-latency transaction processing systems capable of handling millions of transactions per second.
- Integrate cross-border payment protocols leveraging SWIFT gpi, blockchain-based settlement layers, and regional clearing systems.
- Develop and enforce resilience frameworks, including failover strategies, distributed ledger synchronization, and real-time fraud detection pipelines.
- Collaborate with regulatory stakeholders to ensure compliance with evolving central bank digital initiatives and payment licensing frameworks.
Technical Environment
- Microservices architecture (Kubernetes, Docker, service mesh frameworks)
- Event-driven systems (Kafka, Pulsar)
- Payment messaging standards (ISO 20022, ISO 8583)
- Cloud-native platforms (multi-cloud and hybrid deployments)
- Cryptographic security frameworks (HSMs, tokenization, encryption at rest/in transit)
Candidate Profile
- 8–12 years in fintech or financial infrastructure engineering
- Deep expertise in payment gateways, switching systems, or clearing houses
- Strong understanding of regulatory technology (RegTech) integration
- Proven experience designing fault-tolerant distributed systems
- Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity in financial ecosystems
