About the Position
A rapidly growing fintech banking organization is looking for a highly experienced Principal Payment Systems Engineer to lead the engineering of sophisticated digital payment platforms supporting instant payments, merchant acquiring, payment orchestration, cross-border transactions, card processing, account-to-account transfers, and real-time financial settlement.
This role is designed for an engineering leader who understands the complexity of financial transaction ecosystems and possesses extensive experience designing highly secure, scalable, and fault-tolerant payment infrastructures. Working closely with product, security, compliance, and engineering teams, you will play a pivotal role in delivering resilient payment technologies that enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer secure payment processing platforms for retail and corporate banking customers.
- Develop scalable transaction routing and payment orchestration services.
- Build resilient API ecosystems supporting financial institutions and merchant integrations.
- Optimize payment processing performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Integrate domestic and international payment networks.
- Develop fraud-resistant transaction workflows through secure engineering practices.
- Implement continuous monitoring, automated alerting, and operational dashboards.
- Support high-volume payment processing with low-latency architectures.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on secure payment platform design.
- Participate in architecture reviews and engineering governance committees.
- Drive modernization of legacy payment systems.
- Lead engineering innovation initiatives and mentor technical teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems.
- Professional certifications in cloud engineering or payment technologies are advantageous.
- Minimum 8 years of enterprise software engineering experience.
- Extensive experience developing financial transaction platforms.
- Strong understanding of payment processing architecture and distributed systems.
- Experience within fintech, banking, or digital payment organizations.
