Role Overview
A rapidly scaling fintech initiative in Riyadh is seeking a strategic and technically advanced Lead Data Scientist – Credit Risk Modeling, Predictive Analytics & Financial Decision Systems to lead the development of predictive models that drive lending and risk management decisions.
This role focuses on building intelligent credit scoring systems, leveraging both traditional financial data and alternative data sources to improve risk assessment accuracy and financial inclusion.
You will lead a team of data scientists and collaborate with risk, product, and engineering teams to deliver robust, explainable, and scalable models.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy credit risk and default prediction models
- Analyze borrower data to identify predictive features and trends
- Build end-to-end ML pipelines for model development and deployment
- Implement explainable AI techniques for regulatory compliance
- Optimize models for accuracy, fairness, and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align models with business needs
- Monitor model performance and manage lifecycle
- Ensure compliance with Saudi financial regulations
- Mentor junior data scientists and lead technical strategy
- Conduct research on emerging ML techniques
- Develop reporting frameworks for model performance
- Present insights to senior leadership
Required Candidate Profile
- Degree in Data Science, Statistics, or related discipline
- 6+ years of experience in data science or ML
- Strong expertise in Python, ML frameworks, and statistical modeling
- Experience with credit risk or financial analytics
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
Preferred Skills
- Experience with alternative data (behavioral, transactional)
- Knowledge of fairness and bias mitigation in ML
- Familiarity with cloud ML platforms
- Exposure to fintech lending platforms
