Role Summary
The Financial Operations & Controls Specialist is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of financial operations within a fintech environment. This role evolves over time, expanding from operational execution to strategic oversight.
Role Evolution & Responsibilities
Stage 1: Operational Execution (Months 0–6)
- Perform daily financial operations including transaction validation and reconciliation
- Monitor financial data for accuracy and consistency
- Support reporting and documentation processes
Stage 2: Process Improvement (Months 6–12)
- Identify inefficiencies in financial workflows
- Implement process improvements and automation
- Enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency
Stage 3: Strategic Oversight (12+ Months)
- Develop financial control frameworks
- Support strategic financial planning and decision-making
- Provide insights into operational performance and risk management
Ongoing Responsibilities
- Maintain financial controls and compliance standards
- Monitor operational risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Support audits and regulatory requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 4–8 years of experience in financial operations or fintech
- Strong understanding of financial controls and reporting
- Experience with financial systems and tools
