Role Overview

The Dispute Resolution & Chargeback Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining trust and operational accuracy within fintech payment ecosystems. This position is responsible for handling transaction disputes, managing chargeback processes, and ensuring that all cases are resolved efficiently, fairly, and in accordance with regulatory standards.

This role requires a strong understanding of payment lifecycles, card network rules, and dispute workflows, as well as the ability to coordinate across multiple operational and technical teams.


Functional Responsibility Map

Dispute Intake & Case Logging

  • Receive and log customer disputes related to unauthorized transactions, failed payments, or billing errors
  • Categorize disputes based on type, severity, and payment method
  • Ensure all required documentation is collected at the initial stage

Investigation & Analysis

  • Review transaction histories, payment logs, and supporting documentation
  • Analyze dispute validity based on card network rules and internal policies
  • Collaborate with payment processors and acquiring banks for additional data

Chargeback Handling

  • Process chargeback requests in line with defined timelines
  • Prepare and submit representment documentation where applicable
  • Track chargeback cycles and maintain accurate status updates

Resolution & Reporting

  • Communicate outcomes to relevant stakeholders
  • Maintain detailed records for audit and compliance purposes
  • Generate reports on dispute trends, volumes, and resolution rates

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in payments, dispute management, or banking operations
  • Familiarity with card network rules and chargeback processes
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills
