A high-velocity fintech ecosystem is entering a defining phase of infrastructure evolution—transitioning toward a fully real-time, always-available financial architecture capable of supporting national-scale transaction throughput and next-generation digital payment experiences. To lead this initiative, the organization is appointing a Director of Fintech Infrastructure & Real-Time Payments Engineering.
This role sits at the intersection of distributed systems engineering, financial infrastructure design, and operational resilience. The organization’s objective is to construct a payment backbone that processes high-frequency transaction flows with deterministic speed, zero-failure tolerance, and complete financial traceability.
The successful candidate will not simply oversee infrastructure—they will define the computational fabric upon which digital commerce, banking, and financial interaction will operate across a rapidly digitizing economy.
Core Responsibilities
Real-Time Payments Architecture
- Lead the design and deployment of real-time payment processing systems.
- Architect low-latency transaction pipelines capable of handling large-scale financial volumes.
- Build distributed systems supporting instant settlement and reconciliation.
- Optimize transaction routing and orchestration across multiple payment channels.
- Ensure high availability and fault tolerance across all payment infrastructures.
Infrastructure Engineering & Scalability
- Design cloud-native infrastructures supporting financial workloads.
- Implement microservices architectures for modular system scalability.
- Optimize performance across databases, messaging systems, and APIs.
- Oversee capacity planning and infrastructure scaling strategies.
- Ensure system resilience under peak transaction conditions.
Security, Compliance & Governance
- Implement robust security frameworks for financial data protection.
- Ensure compliance with regional and international financial regulations.
- Develop audit-ready systems with full transaction traceability.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on threat mitigation strategies.
Leadership & Execution
- Lead cross-functional engineering teams across backend, DevOps, and platform domains.
- Define engineering roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
- Foster a culture of innovation, reliability, and technical excellence.
- Provide strategic insights to executive leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in fintech, payment systems, or large-scale infrastructure engineering.
- Strong expertise in distributed systems and real-time processing.
- Proven leadership in high-performance engineering environments.
- Deep understanding of financial transaction systems.
