Role Summary
The Digital Payments Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing the technical backbone that supports digital financial transactions. This includes payment gateways, processing systems, and integrations with banking networks.
This role requires a blend of software engineering expertise and a deep understanding of financial transaction lifecycles.
Core Technical Responsibilities
System Design & Architecture
- Design scalable payment processing systems capable of handling high transaction volumes
- Architect secure and resilient infrastructure for digital payments
- Ensure system reliability and minimal downtime
Integration & Development
- Integrate payment gateways, banking APIs, and third-party financial services
- Develop backend services that support transaction processing
- Optimize API performance and response times
Performance Monitoring & Optimization
- Monitor system performance metrics such as latency, throughput, and failure rates
- Troubleshoot system issues and implement improvements
- Ensure efficient handling of peak transaction loads
Security & Compliance
- Implement encryption and secure data handling practices
- Ensure compliance with financial data protection standards
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to mitigate risks
Technical Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 4–6 years of experience in backend engineering or fintech systems
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go
- Experience with APIs, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of payment systems and transaction flows
- Problem-solving in high-availability environments
- Ability to work independently and manage remote workflows
- Strong debugging and system optimization skills
