Role Overview

This role oversees the end-to-end conceptualization and engineering of advanced payment modernization, multi-rail settlement systems, and cross-institution interoperability frameworks across Bahrain’s evolving fintech economy. The Senior Payments Innovation & Multilateral Settlement Systems Architect designs resilient, scalable, and regulator-aligned financial transfer infrastructures that support real-time execution and cross-border connectivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect a unified multi-rail settlement ecosystem integrating instant payments, card networks, digital wallet rails, enterprise treasury systems, and regional cross-border platforms.

• Lead Bahrain’s next-generation real-time settlement architecture, including liquidity optimization matrices, programmable settlement logic, intelligent queue management, and risk-leveraged routing.

• Develop payment innovation layers incorporating event-driven orchestration, AI-powered approval logic, adaptive fraud classification, and multi-tier authentication structures.

• Ensure compliance with Bahrain’s digital payments standards, AML governance, operational risk controls, cybersecurity requirements, and consumer protection guidelines.

• Oversee design and migration to ISO 20022-enhanced payment messaging, ensuring data-rich transparency and seamless cross-network alignment.

• Establish resilience engineering covering automated failover, multi-zone redundancy, real-time fault analytics, and high-throughput performance optimization.

• Lead cross-institution collaboration to standardize settlement protocols, cross-system interoperability rules, and regulatory-aligned transaction governance.

Required Expertise

• 8–14 years in digital payments engineering, settlement architecture, fintech interoperability design, or financial infrastructure modernization.

• Strong understanding of Bahrain’s financial regulatory standards, cross-border settlement norms, and digital payments transformation initiatives.

• Proficiency in instant payment architecture, API governance, fraud analytics, multi-rail systems, and enterprise-grade resilience design.
