Role Summary
This position is focused on engineering backend systems that enable open banking frameworks, allowing secure data exchange between financial institutions, fintech applications, and third-party providers.
You will be responsible for building API-first financial infrastructure that complies with emerging regulatory frameworks while maintaining enterprise-grade performance and security.
Core Responsibilities
Backend Development & API Engineering
- Design and implement RESTful and event-driven APIs for financial data access and payment initiation.
- Develop secure API gateways with authentication protocols (OAuth2, OpenID Connect).
- Maintain backward compatibility and versioning strategies for evolving API ecosystems.
Open Banking Infrastructure
- Build consent management systems allowing users to control financial data access.
- Develop secure data-sharing pipelines aligned with regulatory frameworks.
- Enable interoperability between banks, fintech platforms, and aggregators.
System Scalability & Reliability
- Implement horizontal scaling strategies for high-traffic API systems.
- Design fault-tolerant services with graceful degradation capabilities.
- Ensure uptime SLAs through redundancy and monitoring.
Compliance & Security
- Align backend systems with financial regulations and data protection standards.
- Implement encryption mechanisms for data in transit and at rest.
- Integrate logging systems for auditability and compliance reporting.
Technical Environment
- Languages: Node.js, Java (Spring Boot), Python
- API Tools: Kong, Apigee, Swagger/OpenAPI
- Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB
- Cloud Platforms: AWS / Azure
- DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 5+ years in backend engineering
- Proven experience with API-centric architectures
- Familiarity with financial services or regulated environments
Preferred Expertise
- Experience with open banking standards and financial APIs
- Understanding of identity and access management systems
- Exposure to real-time payment systems
