A frontier fintech ecosystem revolutionizing embedded finance and intelligent digital commerce infrastructure is seeking a highly strategic Principal Backend Architect – Embedded Finance Infrastructure & Merchant Transaction Ecosystems to lead backend transformation initiatives across one of the Gulf region’s most advanced fintech-commerce integration environments.
This organization is building enterprise embedded finance ecosystems integrating merchant payments, subscription billing systems, digital wallet infrastructure, loyalty intelligence platforms, AI-powered checkout optimization, real-time financial settlement systems, and intelligent commerce transaction orchestration frameworks across retail, mobility, logistics, and e-commerce environments.
The role is tailored for elite backend engineers capable of designing highly scalable, secure, and cloud-native financial infrastructures supporting millions of concurrent commerce and payment interactions.
The selected candidate will lead enterprise backend modernization strategies across embedded finance products, transaction ecosystems, and merchant integration platforms.
Strategic Executive Overview
The Principal Backend Architect will supervise backend architecture modernization involving embedded finance systems, transaction orchestration frameworks, merchant APIs, and enterprise financial infrastructure optimization.
This role combines backend architecture leadership, fintech infrastructure modernization, distributed systems engineering, and cloud-native transaction ecosystem strategy.
Core Responsibilities
- Architect enterprise backend systems supporting embedded finance and merchant ecosystems
- Develop highly scalable APIs for payment processing, subscriptions, loyalty systems, and commerce integrations
- Build resilient transaction orchestration infrastructure supporting real-time commerce interactions
- Design distributed systems ensuring high availability and operational continuity
- Implement cloud-native backend services across large-scale financial environments
- Collaborate with frontend, infrastructure, analytics, and cybersecurity teams
- Strengthen backend security frameworks protecting enterprise transaction operations
- Build event-streaming systems supporting real-time commerce analytics and settlement workflows
- Optimize database infrastructure for high-concurrency transaction environments
- Conduct backend performance monitoring, debugging, and enterprise optimization initiatives
- Evaluate emerging backend technologies shaping future embedded finance ecosystems
- Mentor engineering teams and guide enterprise backend governance modernization programs
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
- 7–15 years of experience in backend engineering, distributed systems architecture, or fintech infrastructure development
- Strong expertise in Java, Kotlin, Golang, Node.js, or modern backend ecosystems
- Deep understanding of distributed architecture, event-driven systems, and cloud-native engineering
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis, and enterprise infrastructure technologies
- Strong knowledge of payment ecosystems and transaction processing systems
- Familiarity with DevOps automation and cloud deployment environments
- Embedded finance or digital commerce infrastructure exposure strongly preferred
