Saudi Arabia, under the stewardship of the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), is rapidly accelerating its Open Banking Framework, laying the groundwork for an interoperable financial ecosystem. This position for a Remote Open Banking API Ecosystem Strategist is designed for an expert in API-driven banking architectures, data-sharing models, and digital customer journeys. The role centers on guiding financial institutions, fintech innovators, and regulatory stakeholders toward building secure, customer-centric, and interoperable API ecosystems that align with Vision 2030’s ambitions for a digitally integrated financial sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect API-first banking models, enabling interoperability between traditional banks, digital banks, and fintech platforms.

• Define best practices for secure data-sharing protocols, consent management frameworks, and OAuth2.0-based access standards.

• Collaborate with SAMA-aligned fintechs to deploy customer-centric open banking use cases, including personal financial management apps, lending marketplaces, and account aggregation tools.

• Draft technical and strategic policy recommendations for API governance, sandbox environments, and developer onboarding practices.

• Create roadmaps for embedding real-time payments, data monetization strategies, and embedded finance services into API platforms.

• Engage with cybersecurity experts to implement zero-trust architectures and secure API gateway solutions.

• Produce regular insight reports on global open banking trends, assessing applicability to the Saudi market.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 8+ years in fintech product architecture, API development, or open banking strategy.

• Strong technical expertise in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, microservices, and cloud-native infrastructure.

• Knowledge of PSD2-inspired frameworks, SAMA regulations, and global API banking adoption strategies.

• Proven ability to bridge technical complexity with regulatory compliance.

• Advanced qualifications in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Digital Finance.
