Role Overview
The Payment Gateway Operations Lead will be responsible for ensuring the stability, efficiency, and scalability of payment gateway systems supporting digital transactions. This role requires deep operational oversight of transaction flows, gateway performance, and merchant integrations within a fintech infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of payment gateways, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime
- Monitor transaction success rates, authorization ratios, and processing efficiency
- Manage integrations with acquiring banks, card networks, and alternative payment providers
- Identify and resolve transaction failures, latency issues, and system bottlenecks
- Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize gateway performance and scalability
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and payment security standards
- Support onboarding of merchants and partners into the payment ecosystem
Operational Scope
- Payment routing and transaction orchestration
- Settlement coordination with financial institutions
- Fraud monitoring and transaction validation processes
- Merchant support and issue resolution
Technical Requirements
- Strong understanding of payment gateway architecture and transaction lifecycles
- Experience with APIs, payment protocols, and integration tools
- Familiarity with PCI-DSS and secure payment processing standards
- Knowledge of cloud-based fintech systems
Experience & Qualifications
- 4–7 years experience in payment operations, fintech, or banking systems
- Background in digital payments or transaction processing
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
