Role Overview
APIs are the backbone of modern fintech ecosystems. This role is for a leader who can transform APIs from technical interfaces into thriving developer ecosystems and revenue-generating platforms.
You will design and scale an API-first fintech environment, enabling seamless integration between financial institutions, startups, and digital platforms.
Core Responsibilities
- Build and manage a comprehensive API platform strategy, including productization and monetization
- Design developer-friendly APIs for payments, accounts, identity, and financial data services
- Create and maintain developer portals, sandbox environments, and SDKs
- Drive adoption by engaging fintech developers, partners, and enterprise clients
- Implement API governance frameworks, including versioning, security, and performance monitoring
- Analyze usage data to optimize API performance and developer experience
Technical Stack
- API Management: Apigee, Kong, Mulesoft
- Protocols: REST, GraphQL, event-driven architectures
- Security: OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect
- Infrastructure: Cloud-native microservices, container orchestration
- Analytics: API usage tracking and performance dashboards
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 9+ years in API development, platform engineering, or fintech architecture
- Strong understanding of open banking frameworks and API ecosystems
- Experience building developer platforms or SaaS products
- Excellent stakeholder and community engagement skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience in API monetization strategies
- Knowledge of financial data standards and interoperability frameworks
- Familiarity with developer community building and engagement
- Strong documentation and technical communication abilities
