Job Overview

Executive Principal – Cross-Border Payments Policy Architecture & Global Settlement Design

Jurisdictional Reference: United Arab Emirates

Engagement Model: Fully Remote | Global Financial Time-Zone Coordination

Strategic Context

This mandate operates at the convergence of payment policy, settlement architecture, and international financial connectivity. Anchored to the UAE’s role as a global financial nexus, the position requires a senior fintech authority capable of designing cross-border payment and settlement frameworks that function reliably across jurisdictions, currencies, and institutional regimes.

The role is remote by design, reflecting the inherently international nature of modern payment systems and the need for uninterrupted global coordination.

Mandate & Strategic Objectives

You will assume end-to-end stewardship of cross-border payments and settlement architecture, including:

  • Multi-jurisdictional payment routing and clearing models

  • Settlement finality, liquidity orchestration, and reconciliation logic

  • Interoperability between domestic, regional, and international payment rails

  • Embedded compliance, transparency, and auditability mechanisms

This is a system-design and policy-translation role, not an operational delivery assignment.

Core Responsibilities

Payments & Settlement Architecture

  • Define reference architectures for large-scale cross-border payment systems.

  • Design settlement models that optimise speed, certainty, and liquidity efficiency.

  • Establish interoperability standards across heterogeneous payment infrastructures.

Governance & Policy Translation

  • Convert regulatory and policy intent into enforceable architectural constraints.

  • Embed traceability, auditability, and supervisory visibility into system logic.

  • Ensure architectures remain institutionally defensible under regulatory scrutiny.

Strategic Advisory & Thought Leadership

  • Produce executive-level architecture briefs, settlement roadmaps, and policy-aligned design papers.

  • Advise senior stakeholders on international payments evolution and strategic trade-offs.

  • Serve as a reference authority on global payments modernisation.

Required Professional Profile

  • 15+ years in payments infrastructure, settlement systems, or large-scale fintech architecture.

  • Demonstrated exposure to cross-border or systemically significant payment platforms.

  • Exceptional capacity to operate across executive, regulatory, and deep-technical domains.

Compensation Structure (Indicative – UAE Reference)

  • Base Annual Salary: AED 720,000 – 900,000

  • Cross-Border Payments Leadership Allowance: AED 120,000 – 180,000

  • Performance-Linked Variable Compensation: 30% – 40%

  • Long-Term Settlement Architecture Incentive: Multi-year, milestone-based

  • Remote Executive Technology & Security Budget: Fully provisioned annually

Ideal Candidate

A global payments architect who understands that settlement design is a matter of financial credibility and trust.
