Role Overview
Financial ecosystems are shifting toward real-time, always-on payment infrastructures that enable instant value exchange across individuals, businesses, and institutions. This role is for an executive leader who can design and scale national-level payment rails and instant payment networks, ensuring seamless interoperability across the financial ecosystem.
You will operate at the intersection of technology, policy, and financial system design, shaping the backbone of how money moves in a modern economy.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the strategy for real-time payment systems and national payment networks
- Architect infrastructure supporting instant settlement and 24/7 transaction processing
- Integrate systems with banks, fintech platforms, and payment service providers
- Ensure scalability to handle high transaction volumes with minimal latency
- Establish governance frameworks for risk, compliance, and operational resilience
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align infrastructure with economic and regulatory objectives
- Monitor KPIs such as transaction throughput, system uptime, and settlement speed
Technical Environment
- Architecture: Distributed systems, event-driven frameworks
- Messaging: ISO 20022 standards
- Infrastructure: High-availability, low-latency environments
- Security: Encryption, fraud detection systems
- Integration: APIs connecting multiple financial entities
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Finance
- 12+ years in payments infrastructure or financial systems
- Strong understanding of real-time payment networks and settlement systems
- Experience managing large-scale, mission-critical platforms
- Proven leadership in strategic and operational roles
Preferred Expertise
- Experience with instant payment schemes
- Knowledge of central bank infrastructure and policy frameworks
- Familiarity with cross-border payment interoperability
- Strong system design and stakeholder management skills
