Role Overview
The UAE stands at the forefront of digital transformation, with payment modernization and real-time financial interoperability at its core. The Director of Digital Payment Systems Innovation will architect and lead large-scale payment modernization frameworks that align with next-generation fintech ecosystems — integrating open banking APIs, instant payments, cross-border remittance technologies, and AI-driven compliance infrastructure.
Core Responsibilities

Strategic Architecture: Design and implement high-availability digital payment systems that leverage ISO 20022 standards and blockchain-based settlement layers.

Regulatory Engagement: Collaborate with regional regulators and payment authorities to ensure alignment with UAE Central Bank directives and GCC payment interoperability frameworks.

System Modernization: Lead teams in deploying multi-rail payment infrastructure that enables real-time clearing, digital wallet integration, and tokenized asset transactions.

AI-Driven Fraud Mitigation: Deploy predictive analytics and machine learning systems for transaction anomaly detection and dynamic KYC/AML governance.

Open Banking Expansion: Create and oversee frameworks for secure data-sharing between financial institutions and fintech service providers using consent-driven APIs.
Ideal Candidate Profile

10+ years in fintech or payment infrastructure roles with a proven record in system transformation.

Deep knowledge of payment orchestration, SWIFT gpi, CBDC interoperability, and EMV tokenization standards.

Advanced expertise in cybersecurity, data privacy, and ISO/PCI-DSS compliance.

Exceptional stakeholder management skills, combining technological foresight with regulatory diplomacy.
Preferred Background

MSc/PhD in Computer Science, Financial Engineering, or Applied AI.

Experience in multi-jurisdictional fintech frameworks, preferably across the GCC or EU.
