Role Overview
The Chief Digital Payment Strategy Architect will spearhead the end-to-end strategic evolution of digital payment ecosystems across the UAE and broader MENA region. The incumbent will lead initiatives aimed at architecting next-generation transaction infrastructures that seamlessly integrate cross-border interoperability, tokenized settlement frameworks, and real-time payment orchestration aligned with evolving central bank digital initiatives.
This role is at the intersection of innovation, policy, and infrastructure modernization — requiring an individual capable of transforming macro-level digital payment strategies into operational execution frameworks across a multi-regulated ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities

Design, govern, and deploy future-ready digital payment architectures aligned with UAE’s financial modernization roadmap.

Lead cross-functional teams to integrate instant payment systems, ISO 20022 messaging standards, and tokenized asset settlement mechanisms.

Establish governance and interoperability protocols between domestic and regional real-time payment networks.

Drive collaborations with regulatory sandboxes, fintech clusters, and payment gateways to accelerate market entry of new financial technologies.

Define digital wallet ecosystems supporting biometric authentication, AI-based fraud prevention, and multi-layered compliance automation.

Develop comprehensive frameworks for data-driven payment intelligence and digital transaction monitoring systems.
Required Competencies

10+ years in fintech, payments architecture, or digital banking transformation.

Proven experience implementing large-scale payment modernization programs or cross-border remittance infrastructures.

Expert understanding of ISO 20022, EMV, API-based open banking frameworks, and CBDC integration strategies.

Advanced leadership capability, strategic foresight, and regulatory fluency in GCC fintech ecosystems.
Preferred Qualifications

MBA or MSc in Financial Technology, Computer Science, or Digital Finance Strategy.

Prior experience interfacing with GCC central banks or payment regulators.

Publications or research contributions in digital currency innovation, open finance, or instant payment systems.
