Technical Charter Overview
The Principal Engineer – Transaction Processing & Financial Ledger Systems is a hands-on, deeply technical role focused on the most critical layers of fintech platforms: ledgers, balances, transaction state, and financial correctness.
This role exists to ensure that financial truth is mathematically precise, operationally consistent, and fully auditable. It prioritizes correctness, traceability, and resilience over speed of feature delivery.
Core Technical Responsibilities

Design and evolve digital ledger architectures supporting multi-currency balances, transaction atomicity, and historical traceability.

Engineer transaction processing systems capable of high throughput with strict consistency guarantees.

Define data models for accounts, balances, transaction states, reversals, and reconciliation flows.

Establish standards for error handling, rollback mechanisms, and controlled recovery.

Collaborate with platform and analytics specialists to ensure ledger data is accurate, consumable, and verifiable.

Evaluate and optimize consistency models, fault tolerance, and performance under load.

Produce highly detailed technical documentation covering ledger logic, transaction flows, and system invariants.
Required Technical Background

Extensive experience in fintech engineering, core banking systems, or transaction platforms.

Deep understanding of ledger theory, financial data integrity, and reconciliation mechanics.

Strong background in distributed systems and consistency models.

High standards of technical rigor and documentation discipline.

Comfort working autonomously in remote, outcome-driven environments.
