Role Overview
The Senior Payments Solutions Engineer plays a critical role in designing, integrating, and optimizing payment processing systems across digital platforms. This position bridges technical implementation and business needs, ensuring that payment infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and compliant with regional standards.
You will collaborate closely with product managers, backend engineers, and external partners to deliver seamless payment experiences across multiple channels.
Core Responsibilities
1. Payment Integration & Architecture
- Design and implement integrations with payment gateways, card networks, and digital wallets
- Develop and maintain APIs for payment processing and transaction handling
- Ensure systems support high transaction volumes with minimal latency
2. System Optimization & Performance
- Monitor transaction success rates and identify bottlenecks
- Improve payment authorization and settlement flows
- Troubleshoot integration issues and reduce failure rates
3. Partner & Vendor Collaboration
- Work with third-party payment providers and financial institutions
- Support onboarding of new payment partners
- Ensure alignment with technical and compliance requirements
4. Compliance & Security
- Ensure systems meet PCI-DSS standards and local regulatory requirements
- Implement secure data handling and encryption protocols
- Support audits and compliance checks
Typical Weekly Workflow
- Reviewing payment performance metrics and logs
- Debugging failed transactions and resolving integration issues
- Collaborating with product teams on new feature rollouts
- Supporting partner integrations and testing environments
Required Skills & Experience
- 6–10 years in fintech, payments, or backend engineering
- Strong knowledge of payment systems, APIs, and transaction flows
- Experience with programming languages (Java, Python, or Node.js)
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with UAE payment ecosystems
- Knowledge of ISO 8583 or ISO 20022 messaging standards
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
