A rapidly scaling financial technology institution is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Fintech Backend Software Engineer – Digital Payments Infrastructure to architect, build, and optimize the critical backend systems powering large-scale payment operations, digital transaction ecosystems, and enterprise financial platforms across the GCC.

This role is designed for a high-performance software engineer who understands that in fintech, backend systems are not just technical assets—they are the invisible engines behind customer trust, transaction reliability, fraud prevention, and institutional scalability.

The successful professional will lead the development of secure, high-availability backend services supporting payment gateways, merchant acquiring systems, digital wallets, treasury integrations, settlement engines, remittance corridors, reconciliation workflows, and API-driven financial products.

Core Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable backend services supporting payment processing, transaction orchestration, settlement workflows, and merchant finance operations

• Build secure microservices architecture for digital payments, wallet systems, API banking integrations, and financial product delivery

• Develop high-performance APIs for payment gateways, partner integrations, internal treasury systems, and third-party financial services connectivity

• Improve system reliability across transaction processing, reconciliation engines, reporting systems, and operational monitoring

• Collaborate with product managers, cybersecurity teams, compliance specialists, and DevOps engineers to deliver secure and compliant fintech solutions

• Strengthen system resilience through fault tolerance design, observability frameworks, automated testing, and performance optimization

• Support fraud prevention integrations, transaction monitoring systems, and risk intelligence platforms

• Ensure compliance with financial security requirements, data governance standards, and audit-ready engineering practices

• Participate in architecture reviews, technical decision-making, and long-term engineering modernization initiatives

• Mentor junior developers and contribute to strong engineering standards across the organization

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical discipline

• 5–8+ years of backend software engineering experience within fintech, banking, payments, or high-availability digital platforms

• Strong expertise in Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, or Node.js for backend financial systems

• Experience with microservices, REST APIs, event-driven systems, distributed architecture, and cloud-native engineering

• Strong understanding of payment systems, transaction integrity, reconciliation flows, and secure financial operations

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms

• Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work in high-volume mission-critical environments
