The United Arab Emirates is rapidly advancing toward a real-time, interoperable payments ecosystem, where digital transactions are expected to settle instantly across banks, wallets, and cross-border networks. This requires backend systems that are not only scalable but also financially precise, fault-tolerant, and latency-optimized.

A Senior Fintech Backend Engineer is required to design and maintain the core infrastructure powering real-time payment processing and settlement systems.

Core Mission

To build backend systems that ensure:

• Instant and reliable payment execution
• Accurate financial settlement across systems
• High availability under peak transaction loads

Key Responsibilities

1. Payment Processing Systems

• Design and develop backend services for payment authorization, clearing, and settlement.
• Build highly concurrent transaction pipelines capable of handling large-scale financial traffic.
• Ensure idempotency and consistency in all payment operations.

2. Distributed Backend Architecture

• Develop microservices-based architectures for financial workflows.
• Implement event-driven systems using messaging platforms such as Kafka.
• Ensure system resilience through retries, failover, and circuit breaker patterns.

3. Ledger & Financial Integrity Systems

• Design and maintain double-entry ledger systems for financial accuracy.
• Implement reconciliation mechanisms between internal systems and external banking networks.
• Ensure auditability and traceability of all financial transactions.

4. Performance Optimization

• Optimize backend services for low-latency transaction processing.
• Improve database performance through indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.
• Implement caching strategies to reduce system load.

Technology Stack

• Languages: Go, Java, or Kotlin
• Architecture: Microservices, Event-Driven Systems
• Databases: PostgreSQL, Redis, Cassandra
• Messaging: Kafka, RabbitMQ
• Infrastructure: Kubernetes, Docker, AWS/GCP

Candidate Profile

• 6–10+ years in backend engineering
• Strong experience in distributed systems
• Background in fintech, payments, or banking systems
• Deep understanding of scalability and concurrency
