Role Overview
A high-impact opportunity for a technically sophisticated payments professional to architect, optimize, and scale digital payment ecosystems across multi-jurisdictional environments. This role is designed for individuals who operate at the intersection of financial engineering, distributed systems, and regulatory compliance, with a strong emphasis on real-time transaction processing and cross-border interoperability.
Core Mandate
You will be entrusted with designing and enhancing resilient payment infrastructures capable of supporting:
- High-throughput transaction pipelines
- Multi-currency settlement frameworks
- Seamless integration with global card schemes and alternative payment rails
Your work will directly influence system latency, transaction success rates, fraud resilience, and compliance adherence across regional and international markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer and optimize end-to-end payment processing flows, including authorization, clearing, and settlement layers
- Develop scalable APIs for integration with wallets, banks, and third-party financial service providers
- Lead the implementation of ISO 20022 messaging standards and modern payment orchestration frameworks
- Design fraud detection and prevention mechanisms using rule-based engines and machine learning-assisted monitoring
- Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure alignment with regional regulatory frameworks (e.g., AML, KYC, transaction monitoring)
- Conduct performance tuning and latency reduction initiatives for mission-critical systems
- Oversee payment gateway integrations and optimize routing logic for cost and efficiency
Required Expertise
- Advanced knowledge of payment ecosystems (card networks, ACH, SWIFT, RTP systems)
- Strong experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven systems
- Proficiency in backend technologies (Java, Go, or Node.js preferred)
- Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Deep understanding of transaction lifecycle management and reconciliation processes
- Experience in PCI-DSS compliance environments
Professional Profile
- 5–10+ years in fintech, payments, or financial systems engineering
- Demonstrated experience in high-availability systems (99.99% uptime environments)
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate business needs into technical architecture
