Position Summary
This role focuses on building and maintaining high-performance backend systems that power digital payments, transaction processing, and financial services. You will be responsible for designing scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant systems that handle large volumes of financial transactions in real time.
You will collaborate closely with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams to ensure that payment services are reliable, efficient, and compliant with industry standards.
Core Responsibilities
1. Backend System Development
- Design and develop transaction processing systems and payment APIs
- Build microservices that support wallet operations, transfers, and settlements
- Ensure systems can handle high throughput with low latency
2. System Reliability & Performance
- Monitor system performance and optimize response times
- Implement failover strategies and ensure system resilience
- Reduce downtime and improve service availability
3. Security & Compliance
- Implement secure coding practices for financial systems
- Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS and payment security standards
- Work with compliance teams during audits and reviews
4. Collaboration & Delivery
- Participate in Agile development cycles
- Collaborate with product managers on feature design
- Review code and mentor junior engineers
Typical Work Cycle
- Sprint planning and backlog refinement
- Writing and reviewing backend code
- Debugging production issues
- Monitoring transaction logs and system health
Required Qualifications
- 6–10 years experience in backend engineering or fintech systems
- Strong knowledge of Java, Python, or Node.js
- Experience with REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
- Understanding of payment flows and transaction lifecycle
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Knowledge of ISO 8583 / ISO 20022 messaging
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
