As Saudi Arabia advances its Vision 2030 digital transformation agenda, the intersection of Islamic finance and decentralized technology has emerged as a key innovation frontier. The nation’s proactive push toward Shariah-compliant fintech ecosystems, combined with growing participation in blockchain experimentation (via the Saudi Central Bank’s Project Aber and digital currency pilots), creates fertile ground for an advanced Islamic DeFi infrastructure to take root.
This role is designed for a fintech innovator and Islamic finance technologist capable of architecting a robust, ethical, and regulation-ready decentralized financial system that respects Shariah rulings while leveraging the composability and trust-minimization of Web3.
Core Mandates:

Design a modular Islamic DeFi protocol stack, covering non-interest-bearing lending, profit-sharing investments (Mudarabah/Musharakah), and commodity-based financing (Murabaha) via smart contracts.

Establish an on-chain governance model incorporating Shariah boards, oracles, and scholar-approved parameters for dynamic jurisprudence alignment.

Develop a stablecoin or utility token pegged to riyal-backed reserves, backed by auditable Shariah-compliant underlying assets.

Interface with Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) sandbox regulators and Shariah scholars to maintain institutional credibility and regulatory harmonization.

Lead technical architecture of multi-chain integrations (e.g., Ethereum, Polygon, R3 Corda) while preserving halal compliance across all layers.

Build user-friendly wallets, yield dashboards, and investment pools for Saudi users in Arabic UI/UX.

Coordinate token listings, ethical audit firms, and liquidity pool parameters aligned with Islamic ethical investing guidelines (e.g., AAOIFI, IFSB).

Pioneer Islamic DAO governance mechanisms, leveraging Fatwa-compliant proposal workflows and reputation scoring.
Required Background:

10+ years in blockchain architecture, DeFi development, or financial infrastructure design.

Expertise in Islamic financial jurisprudence, preferably through academic or board-level participation.

Smart contract fluency in Solidity, Cairo (StarkNet), and experience with Layer 2 scaling solutions.

Familiarity with SAMA regulatory stance on virtual assets and fintech innovation pathways in KSA.
Additional Credentials:

Arabic fluency and proven track record of working with Saudi financial entities or Shariah scholars.

Previous work in tokenomics, halal NFT platforms, or digital waqf systems.

Strong exposure to DAO mechanisms, zero-knowledge proofs, and financial governance tooling.
