Position Overview
We are looking for a Remote Director of Digital Payments Innovation to architect, lead, and scale advanced cross-border payment infrastructure for a next-gen fintech initiative rooted in Oman but serving the broader GCC corridor. This role entails pioneering interoperable, cost-effective, and compliant payment solutions that serve SMEs, migrant workers, and regional trade routes between Oman and partner countries.
The successful candidate will spearhead the design and deployment of APIs, wallets, instant rails, and remittance pathways that integrate with Oman’s Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) roadmap, regional cross-border clearinghouses, and global networks like SWIFT gpi and Visa B2B Connect.
Key Duties

Lead the strategic design of interoperable cross-border digital payment solutions across GCC countries with an Omani regulatory anchor.

Develop API-first payment stacks integrated with existing rails like ACH, Swift gpi, and new-age blockchain corridors.

Build multi-currency wallet infrastructure with embedded KYC and real-time FX conversion modules.

Partner with the Central Bank of Oman on potential CBDC interoperability and testing protocols.

Create use cases for SME invoice settlement, diaspora remittances, and government-to-person (G2P) disbursements.

Oversee regional compliance with FATF AML standards, data localization rules, and transaction monitoring protocols.

Engage with telecoms, fintech sandboxes, and foreign exchange providers to create low-cost rails.

Monitor performance dashboards measuring transfer speed, cost, latency, error rate, and NPS.
Required Background
-
10+ years in payment systems architecture, remittance innovation, or fintech infrastructure.

Deep familiarity with Omani and GCC financial regulations.

Experience with ISO 20022 messaging, cross-border KYC, and digital identity frameworks.

Strong understanding of payment tokenization, API design, and compliance risk automation.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Financial Infrastructure, or a related field.
Desirable Skills

Exposure to RippleNet, Stellar, or alternative blockchain-powered payment solutions.

Bilingual in Arabic and English.

Previous experience in public-private financial infrastructure collaborations.
