Remote Director of AI-Driven Cross-Border Credit Scoring – Bahrain

Domain Focus: Expatriate Microcredit | AI Risk Modeling | Multilingual Credit Intelligence | Open Banking + Telecom Data Fusion

Location: Remote | Driving Bahrain’s National Fintech Strategy for Financial Inclusion

Employment Type: Full-Time | High-Impact Policy-Tech Role | Remote + Central Bank Interface (Manama-Based Think Tank Access)

Compensation: Competitive BHD Executive Package + AI IP Royalties + Central Regulatory Sandbox Leadership Track

Strategic Purpose

In Bahrain—where over half the population consists of expatriates—the financial ecosystem faces an urgent challenge: enabling safe, compliant, and inclusive access to credit for migrant and foreign workers. Traditional credit scoring models are structurally blind to transient or undocumented data patterns. This role places you at the frontier of AI-powered cross-border credit scoring infrastructure, orchestrating a multilingual, behavioral-risk scoring platform that draws data from banking APIs, telecoms, remittance histories, and more—all without compromising privacy or regulatory fidelity.

Mandate & Scope

  • Design and lead a real-time, adaptive AI credit scoring platform that fuses financial transaction data, call/SMS metadata, remittance flows, and geolocation mobility into a composite risk profile.

  • Collaborate with Bahrain’s Open Banking framework to retrieve categorized financial behaviors from migrant digital accounts.

  • Integrate machine learning models trained on cross-cultural patterns of savings behavior, family remittance obligations, and religious payment cycles (e.g., Zakat, Eid-based income transfers).

  • Build multilingual interfaces (Tagalog, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Arabic) for borrower communication, score explanation, and debt education.

  • Architect federated AI deployment to avoid centralizing sensitive personal data—keeping the models privacy-centric, auditable, and sandboxed.

  • Advise Bahrain’s Economic Development Board, Central Bank, and Shariah fintech council on ethical machine learning in inclusive credit access.

  • Establish portable, GCC-compliant credit passports for expatriates, allowing them to carry reputational risk history across Gulf countries when switching jobs.

Ideal Expertise

  • 10+ years in credit analytics, AI engineering, or fintech data architecture—especially in underbanked or expat ecosystems.

  • Proficiency in natural language processing (NLP), reinforcement learning, and bias mitigation frameworks.

  • Fluency in Open Banking API standards (UK, EU, MENA) and telecom financial inclusion APIs (e.g., GSMA Digital Identity Toolkit).

  • Deep sensitivity to ethical AI concerns, data privacy, and cross-cultural economic signals.

  • Prior experience in designing multi-jurisdictional scoring models or embedded lending rails.

Why Bahrain?

With its regulator-led fintech strategy, robust sandbox, and cross-border economic position, Bahrain is quietly becoming the Silicon Valley of Gulf financial experimentation. This role invites you to shape how credit becomes borderless, ethical, and intelligent in the post-human-mobility era.
