Position Overview
The Remote Chief Payments Ecosystem Strategist will serve as a key architect in reimagining Bahrain’s digital payment landscape, advancing interoperability, security, and financial efficiency across national and cross-border channels. This position will harmonize innovation with financial integrity, shaping next-generation payment architectures that unify consumer experience, merchant ecosystems, and central financial infrastructure under a digitally integrated framework.
Strategic Mandate
This leadership role aims to position Bahrain as a nexus for advanced digital payment transformation by developing unified, multi-rail settlement architectures that leverage blockchain interoperability, cloud-native processing, and AI-based compliance automation. The strategist will work at the intersection of regulatory frameworks, banking innovation, and fintech scalability.
Core Responsibilities

Develop strategic blueprints for national and cross-border payment interoperability across digital wallets, cards, and instant payment systems.

Oversee architecture for API-driven open banking frameworks enabling secure, frictionless digital payment flows.

Implement digital settlement layers using real-time payment engines, ISO 20022, and tokenized settlement models.

Lead AI and data-driven projects enhancing fraud detection, transaction analytics, and merchant risk scoring.

Design strategic roadmaps for payment system modernization aligned with GCC interoperability goals.

Serve as primary technical advisor to digital payment governance boards, ensuring systemic scalability and cyber resilience.
Qualifications

Advanced degree in Information Systems, Financial Technology, or Systems Architecture.

12+ years in payments innovation, digital banking transformation, or infrastructure strategy.

Expertise in API ecosystems, cloud architecture, cybersecurity compliance, and financial data orchestration.

Deep knowledge of global payment standards (EMV, ISO 20022, PSD2, SWIFT gpi).
