Strategic Purpose
Bahrain, the GCC’s most nimble financial technology sandbox, is accelerating its trajectory toward post-blockchain digital finance and building a new class of quantum-resilient financial messaging protocols. This role is foundational in crafting an entirely new cryptographic foundation for digital payments, real-time interbank transactions, and cross-border monetary settlement, designed to withstand quantum-level threat vectors in the next decade.
Primary Objectives
-
Design and prototype a quantum-resilient digital payment rail, integrating lattice-based cryptography and post-quantum signature algorithms compliant with NIST PQC standards.
-
Engineer an interoperable architecture compatible with ISO 20022, SWIFT gpi+, CBDC bridges, and decentralized payment protocols.
-
Partner with the Central Bank of Bahrain to simulate quantum-attack scenarios against domestic e-wallets, micropayment gateways, and card networks.
-
Construct a policy-augmented payment logic engine capable of regulatory-aware execution, dynamically adjusting transaction permissions based on AML, Shariah, ESG, or anti-fraud policy overlays.
-
Lead the remote engineering of a Bahraini cryptographic standards library for regional payment processors, acquirers, and PSPs.
-
Develop scalable APIs to connect fintech companies, challenger banks, and remittance firms into the post-quantum Bahrain Pay Core.
-
Establish governance frameworks around the tokenized payment ledger to enable algorithmic oversight by the Bahrain Fintech Regulatory Sandbox.
Candidate Profile
-
15+ years in digital payments, distributed ledger systems, or cryptographic protocol development.
-
Deep expertise in post-quantum cryptography, including NTRU, Kyber, Dilithium, and Falcon.
-
Experience building high-performance payment gateways or RTGS integrations at the national or supranational level.
-
Familiarity with Middle East regulatory sandboxes and Islamic financial compliance is advantageous.
-
Strong research credentials preferred (e.g., contributions to cryptographic journals or IETF standardization efforts).
Why Bahrain?
Bahrain is building a next-generation quantum-resilient digital payment core, years ahead of global standards. This is your opportunity to shape the GCC’s future-proof monetary plumbing remotely, while contributing to the region’s cryptographic sovereignty and financial stability.
