Job Overview
Principal Remote Digital Payments & Financial Infrastructure Architect – United Arab Emirates (GCC-Wide Remote)
Role Overview
This role represents a senior-most architectural mandate within the digital payments ecosystem, designed for a fintech professional capable of conceptualising, governing, and evolving next-generation payment infrastructures operating at national, regional, and cross-border scale. The position is fully remote, yet strategically aligned with the United Arab Emirates as a financial innovation hub connecting the GCC, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
The successful candidate will function as both a technical authority and strategic payments architect, shaping high-volume transaction systems, real-time settlement frameworks, API-driven payment orchestration layers, and interoperable digital wallets designed to operate under complex regulatory and operational environments.
Key Strategic Responsibilities
-
Architect and continuously evolve large-scale digital payment infrastructures capable of processing millions of transactions daily with near-zero latency
-
Design resilient payment rails encompassing card networks, instant payments, QR-based ecosystems, alternative payment methods, and cross-border settlement frameworks
-
Lead the development of modular, API-first payment platforms enabling rapid integration with banks, merchants, fintech platforms, and embedded finance partners
-
Define governance frameworks for transaction security, data integrity, encryption standards, and fraud-resilient payment design
-
Collaborate with compliance, risk, and regulatory specialists to ensure payment systems remain adaptable to multi-jurisdictional regulatory expectations
-
Establish architectural standards for scalability, redundancy, disaster recovery, and high-availability payment environments
-
Mentor senior engineers and product architects, setting long-term technical direction rather than day-to-day execution
Required Expertise & Professional Profile
-
12+ years of experience across digital payments, financial infrastructure, or transaction-heavy fintech systems
-
Deep knowledge of payment protocols, settlement models, clearing mechanisms, and payment message standards
-
Proven experience designing payment systems for regional or international scale
-
Strong background in cloud-native architectures, microservices, event-driven systems, and real-time processing
-
Exceptional ability to translate regulatory, operational, and commercial requirements into scalable technical solutions
Compensation Structure (Indicative – Remote, UAE-Benchmarked)
-
Base Annual Salary: USD 145,000 – USD 195,000
-
Performance-Linked Incentive: 15% – 25% of base (annualised)
-
Long-Term Value Incentive: Deferred performance units or milestone-based retention awards
-
Professional Allowances: Home-office infrastructure, global connectivity, advanced tooling budgets
