Principal Fintech Systems Architect – Digital Payment & Financial Infrastructure

A rapidly modernizing financial technology ecosystem in Saudi Arabia is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Fintech Systems Architect to design and govern next-generation financial infrastructure supporting real-time payments, national digital banking initiatives, merchant ecosystems, and large-scale transaction processing networks.

This role is positioned at the highest technical architecture tier within a complex fintech environment undergoing accelerated digital transformation. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining enterprise-wide system blueprints that support millions of concurrent financial transactions across distributed, cloud-native, and API-driven financial ecosystems.

The environment is deeply technical, highly regulated, and mission-critical, requiring architectural precision across payment orchestration layers, settlement systems, core banking integrations, fraud intelligence platforms, and financial messaging networks.

Core Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end fintech payment architectures supporting real-time transactions, merchant acquiring systems, digital wallets, and embedded finance ecosystems.
• Define enterprise integration standards across banking APIs, payment gateways, SWIFT interfaces, ISO 20022 messaging frameworks, and internal ledger systems.
• Architect highly scalable microservices-based financial platforms capable of handling peak transactional loads with ultra-low latency and high availability.
• Lead infrastructure design decisions across cloud-native environments, hybrid banking systems, and distributed ledger components where applicable.
• Establish architectural governance frameworks ensuring system resilience, security-by-design principles, and regulatory compliance alignment.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to embed zero-trust architecture, encryption layers, tokenization standards, and fraud prevention controls.
• Oversee modernization of legacy payment infrastructures into modular, API-first financial ecosystems.
• Evaluate emerging fintech technologies including instant payment rails, AI-driven transaction routing, and programmable money frameworks.
• Provide technical leadership to engineering, DevOps, and platform teams during system design, migration, and scaling initiatives.
• Produce high-level architectural documentation for executive, regulatory, and engineering stakeholders.

Professional Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or Financial Technology.
• 10–15 years of experience in fintech architecture, banking systems engineering, or large-scale financial infrastructure design.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, API ecosystems, and financial messaging standards.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), container orchestration, and high-availability system design.
• Knowledge of payment systems, core banking platforms, and transaction processing ecosystems.
