Role Overview
An advanced fintech institution in Doha is recruiting a high-level Principal Fintech Cybersecurity & Payment Systems Technology Director to lead enterprise security strategy across digital payments, customer financial platforms, transaction systems, and high-value financial data environments.
This role is critical to protecting financial trust, platform resilience, and institutional integrity across a rapidly expanding digital finance operation. The successful candidate will oversee the security architecture of payment ecosystems, customer identity infrastructure, fraud defense systems, compliance technology, and enterprise cyber governance.
You will operate at executive level across technology, risk, compliance, operations, and regulatory engagement while building the next generation of secure fintech infrastructure across Qatar’s evolving financial technology landscape.
Primary Responsibilities
- Define enterprise cybersecurity strategy across payment systems, customer channels, API banking infrastructure, and transaction platforms
- Lead security architecture for digital wallets, merchant acquiring, mobile banking systems, and payment gateway environments
- Establish fraud defense mechanisms across authentication layers, payment verification systems, and customer identity controls
- Oversee Security Operations Center coordination, incident response programs, and cyber resilience planning
- Design security controls aligned with PCI DSS, ISO 27001, financial sector regulations, and regional compliance obligations
- Lead vulnerability management, penetration testing programs, and financial application security governance
- Develop fraud intelligence frameworks and transaction anomaly detection systems
- Support executive-level regulatory engagement and cyber audit readiness across financial supervision frameworks
- Strengthen internal controls across privileged access, identity governance, endpoint security, and secure development practices
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams on zero-trust architecture, encryption strategy, and secure cloud adoption
- Evaluate emerging cyber threats affecting fintech ecosystems including API attacks, account takeover fraud, and payment fraud schemes
- Build long-term cybersecurity roadmaps supporting institutional growth and digital finance innovation
Required Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or Financial Systems Technology
- 8+ years of senior cybersecurity leadership within fintech, banking technology, or regulated payment institutions
- Deep expertise in payment security architecture, fraud prevention systems, and financial transaction security frameworks
- Strong understanding of PCI DSS, SIEM platforms, IAM frameworks, SOC operations, and cloud security models
- Experience with fraud monitoring systems, identity verification solutions, and authentication technologies
- Strong knowledge of payment rails, acquiring systems, digital banking security, and regulatory technology
- Proven experience leading security transformation programs across enterprise financial systems
- Ability to communicate technical risk clearly to executive stakeholders and regulators
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, PCI ISA, or equivalent are highly desirable
- GCC financial services experience strongly preferred
Preferred Expertise
- Experience in digital asset custody security and tokenized payment environments
- Exposure to AI-powered fraud detection and behavioral risk monitoring
- Knowledge of secure financial API ecosystems and Open Finance frameworks
- Experience with large-scale enterprise cloud security transformation programs
