Role Overview
Modern payment ecosystems are no longer single-rail—they operate across cards, real-time payments, wallets, and alternative payment methods. This role is for a senior architect who can design intelligent payment orchestration layers that dynamically route transactions across multiple rails to optimize cost, speed, and success rates.
You will be responsible for building a centralized orchestration engine that acts as the decision-making layer behind every transaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect multi-rail payment orchestration systems supporting cards, RTP, wallets, and APMs
- Design dynamic routing algorithms to optimize transaction success and cost efficiency
- Integrate with acquirers, issuers, payment gateways, and financial institutions
- Implement failover mechanisms and redundancy strategies for high availability
- Build analytics frameworks to monitor routing performance and transaction outcomes
- Ensure compliance with payment regulations and security standards
- Optimize KPIs such as authorization rates, latency, and cost per transaction
Technical Environment
- Architecture: Microservices, event-driven systems
- Programming: Java, Go, Python
- Data: Real-time analytics and decision engines
- Infrastructure: Cloud-native platforms
- Security: PCI-DSS, tokenization, encryption
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Finance
- 10+ years in payments, fintech architecture, or financial systems
- Strong understanding of payment flows, routing logic, and transaction processing
- Experience designing scalable, high-throughput systems
- Ability to align technical architecture with business performance goals
Preferred Expertise
- Experience with real-time payment networks
- Knowledge of fraud prevention and risk scoring systems
- Familiarity with cross-border payment routing
- Strong system design and analytical skills
