Overview
Kuwait’s digital finance ecosystem is undergoing rapid transformation, propelled by central bank modernization strategies, a digitally-savvy population, and rising demand for Shariah-compliant financial services in digital channels. This role seeks a Remote Principal Architect of Shariah-Compliant Lending & Credit Orchestration, who will lead the blueprinting, design, and technical enablement of end-to-end credit systems tailored for the Kuwaiti Islamic finance landscape.
From Murabaha-based micro-lending flows, to Tawarruq-integrated credit orchestration, to AI-driven alternative credit scoring, you will architect compliant, modular, cloud-native credit infrastructure that powers next-generation financing in a nation where religious compliance is not optional but fundamental.
Key Responsibilities
-
Design and implement a core credit orchestration platform aligned with Islamic jurisprudence, leveraging modular APIs, smart contracts (where applicable), and distributed ledgers to support transparent lending mechanisms.
-
Collaborate with Kuwaiti Shariah boards and legal scholars to encode compliance checkpoints directly into the lending lifecycle.
-
Lead the remote development of customizable white-labeled financing tools for fintech startups and Islamic banks, enabling auto-decisioning, real-time KYC/AML, and risk-adjusted profit modeling.
-
Build digital credit marketplaces, seamlessly integrating Sukuk-backed funding lines, asset-leasing models, and non-interest-based digital overdrafts.
-
Develop rule-based decision engines for eligibility, affordability, and compliance evaluation in accordance with Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) credit laws.
-
Create fraud mitigation, behavioral risk scoring, and customer lifecycle tools using ML, while ensuring these algorithms reflect Islamic ethical standards.
-
Manage a globally distributed engineering team to deliver secure, scalable lending systems ready for deployment across Kuwait’s mobile-first landscape.
Required Skills & Background
-
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Financial Engineering, or Islamic Finance.
-
Minimum 8 years of experience in lending platform design, credit risk systems, or digital finance architecture.
-
In-depth knowledge of Islamic financial instruments (Murabaha, Ijara, Musharaka, etc.) and experience translating them into compliant technical flows.
-
Familiarity with Kuwaiti financial regulations, CBK sandbox guidelines, and eKYC frameworks.
-
Advanced understanding of cloud-native deployment, microservices, and Open Finance architecture.
Highly Desirable
-
Arabic fluency to interface with Shariah supervisory bodies and Kuwaiti clients.
-
Experience integrating lending with POS terminals, insurance APIs, or government-backed social finance schemes in GCC economies.
-
Prior contributions to ethical fintech forums, AAOIFI working groups, or open-source Shariah-compliant finance libraries.
