Position Summary:
As Oman deepens its fintech ambitions under Vision 2040 and accelerates the modernization of its national payment and financial inclusion strategies, the need for a secure, sovereign, and interoperable digital identity framework across its financial sector has become critical. A new remote executive role has been opened for a Principal Architect of Digital Identity Infrastructure, tasked with building the foundational identity and trust layer upon which the country’s digital banking, lending, investment, and regulatory platforms can securely scale.
This role will lead the end-to-end technical and policy design of a national digital identity network interoperable with the Gulf’s fintech ecosystem, focusing on verifiable credentials, AML-compliant onboarding, and privacy-preserving decentralized identity standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Architect an eKYC and digital identity infrastructure that integrates seamlessly with Oman’s national ID system, fintech platforms, and AML compliance gateways.

Design privacy-respecting, blockchain-enabled DID (Decentralized Identity) frameworks for mobile-first financial services.

Enable zero-knowledge proofs and selective disclosure mechanisms to allow frictionless onboarding without overexposure of personal data.

Establish unified digital identity protocols across banks, neobanks, lending apps, payment aggregators, and crowdfunding portals.

Implement biometric and multi-factor identity verification models suited for remote users and unbanked populations.

Collaborate with CBO, CMA, and Oman ITA on integrating public key infrastructure (PKI), verifiable credentials, and sovereign eID standards.

Guide fintech startups in embedding identity APIs and consent management layers that meet both privacy laws and AML regulations.
Candidate Profile:
-
10+ years in digital identity architecture, fintech compliance, or infrastructure engineering.

Expertise in OpenID Connect, OAuth2, W3C Verifiable Credentials, and Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) frameworks.

Familiarity with GCC digital ID strategies and data privacy laws in Oman and the wider Gulf region.

Experience in building eKYC orchestration engines, decentralized wallets, or digital identity exchanges.

Master’s or PhD in Cryptography, Identity Systems, Cybersecurity, or Information Engineering.
