Principal Architect – Digital Payments & Financial Infrastructure (Remote | Saudi Arabia)

Role Context

This role is positioned at the intersection of large-scale financial infrastructure engineering, digital payments modernization, and regulatory-grade platform architecture. The successful candidate will operate as a senior architectural authority responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and governing next-generation payment rails and transaction orchestration frameworks intended for high-volume, multi-jurisdictional financial ecosystems anchored in Saudi Arabia’s rapidly evolving digital economy.

The position is remote by design but demands deep familiarity with regional financial infrastructure paradigms, cross-border settlement logic, and enterprise-grade payment system resilience.

Core Mandate

• Architect end-to-end payment platforms supporting real-time payments, instant settlement, wallet interoperability, and API-driven transaction flows

• Design fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable transaction engines capable of sustaining institutional-grade throughput and latency benchmarks

• Establish architectural standards for secure payments messaging, reconciliation frameworks, and multi-currency ledger synchronization

• Translate regulatory and compliance requirements into technical control frameworks embedded directly into platform design

• Lead architectural governance across distributed engineering teams, ensuring consistency, security, and long-term scalability

Technical & Strategic Scope

• Real-time payments (RTP), ISO 20022 messaging, payment gateways, tokenization layers

• Distributed ledger integrations (where appropriate), event-driven microservices, and cloud-native payment architectures

• Risk controls embedded at infrastructure level, including transaction monitoring, velocity controls, and exception handling

• API lifecycle management for external banks, merchants, and fintech partners

Candidate Profile

• 12+ years in fintech, payments engineering, or financial infrastructure architecture

• Demonstrated experience designing national-scale or multi-market payment platforms

• Advanced expertise in cloud infrastructure, high-availability systems, and security-first design

• Proven ability to communicate complex architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
